Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS Spider Corsa Model history
Introduced in 1939, Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 resulted from a decade of progressive development of the ’6 C ‘. From 1927 with the 6C 1500, had six-cylinder machines functioned as a model Alfa Romeo main production, but also scored many successes competition authorities. The Alfa 6C 2500 remain in line-up until 1952 and is today considered one of his most beautiful cars.
The main feature compared to the 6C 2300 was extended outgoing engine. This dual overhead cam six-cylinder engine originally designed by the legendary Vittorio Jano, grew in size from 2309 cc to 2443 cc courtesy of a bar slightly bigger. Besides the road car production, also Alfa Romeo has developed a competition version for long distance events like the Mille Miglia and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. 6C 2500S still pull off the line and for war, but production finally ceased in 1942. Alfa Romeo has managed to keep safely all tools and dies, so in 1946 the factory was already running again. There were no significant resources for development and the only difference was the adoption of a lower compression heads to deal with the poor quality of fuel available.
